Ubuntu 9.10 alpha and beta release users may have noticed something very wrong with its NetworkManager. On those releases, NetworkManager won’t let the user edit default network settings through the NetworkManager applet even with sufficient privileges.

I’ve had the Karmic development release running since Alpha 2. I started with it because it supported some newer hardware on the Asus 1008HA netbook and that machine is not as critical as my desktop is for work so I could afford for it to go wrong occasionally. Although it has been only very occasionally.

Yesterday I made a clean install of Ubuntu Karmic Koala on my PC (btw it’s the first clean install since Gutsy) and since I synchronize my Firefox profile with Dropbox, the first thing I needed to do was to make Dropbox work with Ubuntu Karmic Koala beta (9.10).
