You could easily install Thunderbird 3.1 in Ubuntu using Ubuntuzilla, but that was only available for 32bit users. A PPA repository is now available which provides the latest Thunderbird 3.1.1 (final, not daily builds) for Ubuntu Lucid – both 32bit and 64bit.

We decided to backport the GIMP 2.6.10 from Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat to Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala and Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx. Since this is a stable release, the GIMP 2.6.10 packages are available in the main WebUpd8 PPA.

Q: I have installed Ubuntu 9.10 alongside Windows XP. While it is all working, I would rather have Windows XP as the default option in the boot menu so I don’t have to manually choose a different option in the menu.
As part of virtualization on Hyper-V, there is the ability to use Para-virtualized drivers instead of using built-in drivers for slower, emulated devices. Para-virtualized drivers are simply device drivers that are written for native virtual devices.
This post is for those wanting to upgrade existing Ubuntu 9.10 openvz templates to Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) which is a LTS release (supported server side for 5 years).
