DevOps is an ambiguous term. Sometimes it’s used to talk about getting developers and IT operations staff to work more closely. Other times it refers to traditional developers tools (such as programming scripts) that can handle various operational tasks on their own. But one common idea is that IT infrastructure should be more automated, letting whoever manages it to treat it more like software than hardware.
